Lee's Taiwanese 台灣廟口美食 @ JEM

Lee's Taiwanese 台灣廟口美食 @ JEM
Jem, 50 Jurong Gateway Road, #03-05/06

Was shopping at the newly open JEM near Jurong East Mrt when I spotted Lee's Taiwanese.

Apparently, even before the shop opens, there's already a queue outside forming. And so happen that it is one of the shorter queues compared to the rest of the eateries in JEM thus I followed the queue to try out the food here.

Since I have never been to Taiwan before (will be going this October) so I won't be able to comment if this is as good as those in Taiwan. Personally, the Pig's intestine and Meat Ball Mee Sua is great! Heehee and this is coming from someone who don't really fancy mee sua.

We ordered the Taiwanese Beef Noodles too but as we were too hungry, I didn't manage to snap a photo before we drove right into the foods lol. The soup for the beef noodles is passable but what i liked most is that they have this pickled vegetables which i loved. It goes very well with the noodles and soup making it extra tasty. Beef is tender and not tough. Portion of beef can be improved.

Since I am an avid fan of Salt and Pepper Chicken, I ordered one as the appetiser. Tasty but it's kinda pricy for me. Heehee those pasa malams one taste almost the same ^_* But of course we are paying extra for the ambiance and stuff. :P

We also ordered the Salt and Pepper Chicken Rice. I loved the sides that came along with the rice. Those pickled vegetables.... lol

We also ordered the Cuttlefish Ball Soup.. like I said.. we were too hungry and thus before any photos are taken.. it was gone!!

But not to worry, definitely I will be returning to Lee's Taiwanese for more!!!! Stay tune for more updates and reviews!

Heng Heng Curry Cafe @ Causeway Point Woodlands

Heng Heng Curry  Cafe
Causeway Point, 1 Woodland Square #B1-19

Had always wanted to try out the Curry Fish Head Curry at Heng Heng Curry but I always hestitate due to the fact that it always seems empty lol. I only manage to try one dish here so... it's hard to rate from just one dish. :D

I ordered the Curry Kong Bah (Braised Pork Belly) with the Pumpkim rice.

The pumpkim rice was sooooo disappointing. It's was too hard and the taste is kinda weird at least for me.

As for the Curry Kong Bah ... the gravy itself is the kind that is really thick. So unless you like thick curry gravy... then you might wanna think twice? Heehee the meat itself is ok just that the concept and taste of braised kong bah together with curry did not actually blend in that well.

I won't be rating this as it will be pretty unfair since I only tried one dish. Will be back to add in more photos and review when I try out more :D (that is if i return lol)

Taipei Cafe @ Bugis

Taipei Cafe @ Bugis
#01-02,  470 North Bridge Road

I was craving for some steamboat and happen to see a deal on streetdeal.sg therefore the review for Taipei Cafe. It is actually opposite Bugis Junction, not very noticeable but easy to find as it's just behind the bus stop. We had to call a few times to make reservations and every time it seems that the air-conditioned place is taken up and left with only the seats outside.

When we arrived, inside had plenty of seats and so I asked if we could sit in inside :P. They said that the table is booked by someone but at a later time and if we are able to finish by that timing they wouldn't mind us taking up the table. Of course we took up the offer but it was a wrong move. Halfway through the meal, I was already fanning myself with a paper as it is getting really stuffy and warm inside even with the air-conditioning on.

Personally, I felt that the variety of items for the steamboat is pretty limited. But the set meal, drinks and snack was surprising good.

Since the drinks came along with the deal free, I can't expect much. It's pretty diluted but still passable.

The side dish we chose the tempura prawn and crispy pork cutlet. Prawns are really small and not that fresh.. but the pork cutlet is still fine just a bit tad too oily.

For the set meal, we ordered the Oyster Mee Sua and SiChuan Spicy Beef Noodle.
I did not expect it to be good since we are actually here for the steamboat. Instead, the set meal was so good that we finished up the set meal ended up not eating much from the steamboat counter.

Dessert we had Mango Pudding and we only had a spoonful as it's really not what we expected. It's too sweet and the texture is kinda weird.

But for the kind of deal we are paying, it is definitely worth every dime spent but perhaps next time we might just settle for the set meal only instead of the combo of the steamboat and set meal which is too much for us.

Normally when I am there in East Coast Park, I will come over here to have the Wanton Mee. Well, do expect to queue during lunch and dinner hours. It's pretty fast moving though.

The noodles are done in a al-dente way unlike some places where they did cooked it until it's pretty soggy. The best will be the BBQ pork also known as Char Siew. It's roasted or bbq until the sides of the meat are slightly charred but not overly charred.

Ok just the sight of the photos make me hungry now!!!
If you are a big eater, I would suggest you get the bigger portion as the smaller one is really small. Plus for the bigger portion, the char siew are also given more :D

East Coast Lagoon Food Village - Roxy Laksa & Prawns Noodles Review

East Coast Lagoon Food Village

Roxy Laksa & Prawns Noodle
Eating in East Coast Lagoon Food Village can be a hit or a miss. We decided to try out the Roxy Laksa on of the days while hanging out at East Coast Park.

For your information, those who loved cockles you can just give this a miss as they do not serve their Laksa with cockles. I asked for more soup as usual and was rudely turned down by the auntie. I think I paid like $4 or $5 for this bowl of Laksa with no cockles and no extra soup. :(

Still, we wanna try this without any prejudice but sadly the soup isn't as great as the Katong Laksa we had before. Soup is abit bland, prawns are pretty fresh though.

We did'nt try the Prawn Noodles though. Perhaps you can leave us some comments if you tried it and you can share with us how it fare. :)

But then again, I doubt I will try this again :P not for the price nor the quality of Laksa served. Unless you are craving badly for Laksa then you may give this a try.

East Coast Lagoon Food Village - Zuo Ji Duck Rice

East Coast Lagoon Food Village

East Coast Park - One of the places that I love to go during the weekends to relax and indulge myself in the foods offered at the nearby food village.

For those who have not been to Singapore but plans to do so, I would recommend you guys to come down for a stroll by the lovely beach and then proceed to the food village for some Singapore style food.

Food is always better when there are beautiful sand and sea. For those years that I was absent in Singapore, East Coast Park is one of the places that I will check out whenever I am back.

Zuo Ji Duck Rice . Duck Porridge
Braised Duck Rice

Decided to give this stall a try since it had a long queue to it. :P Well, normally if there is a queue it's either cheap or it's nice. Waited for slightly more than 30mins before we can make our order.

We ordered the duck porridge, it's only average tasting.
Not worth the long wait.

The duck rice was too hard even with that amount of gravy, rice is too hard at least for me. The duck meat itself is only average nothing much to rave about. They also braised other stuffs like pig's ear which was surprising to me though as I haven't seen stalls selling braised pig's ear for quite a long while since I was back from China. Sadly, it was tough and not braised long enough. The only consolation comes from the chili. But then again, I doubt I will patronise this stall again even for the chili.

Personally went to this place to try out their prawn noodles as I was craving for some prawn noodles. Pretty hard to get really nice prawn noodles in Woodlands.

The first time I went, we ordered the premium crayfish prawn noodles($10.90) which has prawns and crayfish in it. It was great especially the broth. But it might be too salty for some as I do find it slightly salty.

Below is the second dish we ordered. It's the premium seafood fried kway tiao($10.90). Lots of seafood and bean sprouts. It's really good for those who favor more ingredients than kway tiao itself.

Since there is only two of us, we are unable to order alot so we decided to come again the next time round.
